30-min Changeover | Modular Upper-Structure Platform, Quick-Change Tooling, Plug-and-Play Test Modules
Sanitation sprayers, fire patrol vehicles, tool-modified three-wheelers. The problem: batch sizes are small — a few dozen units — but each batch requires different tooling. A dedicated rigid line is uneconomical.
The front section follows a standard three-wheeler chassis assembly. The rear section is a modular platform. When a sanitation vehicle comes in, mount the chemical tank and spray gun brackets. Switch to a fire patrol order: replace the tooling with fire extinguisher mounts and light bar wiring fixtures. Changeover time: approximately 30 minutes.
A dedicated wiring harness station has cable tie fixtures and continuity test ports. Routing follows a standard template regardless of vehicle type. The functional test bench accepts different modules per vehicle — pump flow rate for sanitation trucks, strobe frequency for fire patrol vehicles.
At 30-minute changeovers, the line handles 10 to 15 variants per year. Dedicated lines for each type would more than double equipment investment.
Technical Specifications
Applicable Models: Special-purpose three-wheelers — sanitation sprayers, fire patrol vehicles, tool-modified utility vehicles; batch sizes typically a few dozen units per order; 10–15 different vehicle types per year.
Line Layout: Two-stage design — front section uses standard three-wheeler chassis assembly flow; rear section uses modular platform with detachable tooling that can be swapped per order; wiring harness station with cable tie fixtures and continuity test ports.
Core Equipment: Quick-change modular platform with detachable fixtures; dedicated wiring harness station with colour-coded cable management and standard routing template; multi-function test bench with plug-and-play modules — pump flow rate for sprayers, strobe frequency for fire patrol, etc.; manual clamping with quick-change bushings.
Key Technical Features: Changeover time approximately 30 minutes between vehicle types — swap the modular platform fixtures, change the test module, and the line is ready for the next order. Dedicated rigid lines for each variant would more than double equipment investment. Wiring harness routing follows a standard template regardless of vehicle type, eliminating rework from inconsistent wiring layout.
Production Metrics: Changeover 30 minutes; handles 10–15 variants per year; per-unit equipment amortization minimized through shared platform; avoids dedicated line investment for low-volume production.
